When you have passed your theory test and your driving is approaching test standard, your instructor will conduct a mock driving test and suggest when you should book your practical driving test. This can be done on line using the link below, or by dialling 0300 200 1122. You must pay the DVSA test fee of £62 at the time of booking. (Weekday evening and weekend tests are £75)
It is usual to have at least a one hour lesson immediately before the test, allowing you to settle in and arrive at the test centre in good time. The cost of this lesson and the charge for the use of the car during your test should be paid to your instructor on the day of your test unless it has been pre-paid.
The practical driving test lasts for about 45 minutes and is conducted by a DVSA examiner.
After an initial eyesight check you will be asked two vehicle safety check questions, often referred to as the ‘Show Me – Tell Me’ questions. Click to download the Show Me Tell Me questions for the Suzuki Swift SZ4.
The examiner will then give you directions to follow so that he/she can assess the standard of your driving. The test route will cover a selection of different junctions and hazards to test you on topics you have covered during your training.
The test includes one reversing manoeuvre and possibly an emergency stop.
You will also be asked to drive independently for approximately 10 minutes following verbal directions or signposts.
